Temporary Hash Lock Contract (HTLC) is a smart contract used in cryptocurrency channels to eliminate counterparty risk. This allows time-limited transactions to be implemented. In practice, this means that the transaction recipients must confirm the payment by creating cryptographic evidence within a specified period. Otherwise, the transaction will fail.
