This is a common name for sales where the price is not set or arrived at by negotiation but is known through open bidding. The types of auctions are forward auctions where many buyers bid the goods of one seller. And reverse auction where many sellers bid for the order of one buyer. For an auction to be complete, the bid must be accepted by the buyer or seller.
